Metal conducts heat and electricity to the structures below it which may cause thermal damage to the pulp of the underlying tooth leading to pain and swelling. When compared to metal free restorations they are not highly aesthetic as they are not transparent in conducting light through them. Where as metal free restorations are highly aesthetics As they conduct light through them.
